FPT AI Factories in Vietnam, Japan Log Profits, Reach Top‑500 Supercomputer List
After more than a year of operation, FPT’s AI Factory clusters in Hanoi, Vietnam and in Japan achieved utilization above 90% and recorded profits in the second quarter of 2026. Both facilities were placed among the top 500 most powerful supercomputers worldwide in June 2025, based on the Linpack benchmark. The Japanese factory comprises 146,304 processor cores delivering 49.85 PFlops, while the Vietnamese plant has 142,240 cores with 46.65 PFlops; both use InfiniBand NDR400 networking to scale from single GPUs to large parallel server clusters. FPT’s AI & Data Analytics services generated VND 1.842 trillion in revenue, a 54 % year‑on‑year increase, and the company’s half‑year 2026 revenue rose to VND 26.269 trillion with pre‑tax profit of VND 5.714 trillion, up 12.6 % and 18.1 % respectively. Despite these financial gains, the company’s shares fell to a two‑year low, closing at VND 67,000 on 17 July 2026, valuing FPT at under VND 115 trillion (≈US$4.4 billion). The factories were built after US$200 million investments in each location to support generative and agentic AI solutions for enterprises. A company representative said, “This also marks Vietnam’s entry into the top‑15 AI nations alongside the U.S., China, Japan, Germany and France.”
