FPT and Mila sign strategic AI cooperation agreement in Vietnam

FPT Corporation and the Mila-Quebec AI Institute of Canada have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to advance artificial intelligence development in Vietnam. The signing ceremony in Hanoi was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung, who commended the partnership and its upcoming research projects.

This collaboration aligns with Vietnam's national strategy to utilize science, technology, and digital transformation as primary drivers of development. The country is preparing for the implementation of its Artificial Intelligence Law on March 1, 2026, joining the European Union and South Korea as early adopters of specific legal frameworks for AI.

To support this transition, the Vietnamese government has introduced various policies, including Decree No. 142/2026/ND-CP and a national human resource development program for AI spanning through 2030, with a long-term vision to 2035. The Ministry of Science and Technology has also been tasked with drafting a national AI strategy for the Prime Minister.
