Framework issues refunds and lowers prices following cheaper RAM procurement

Framework, the manufacturer of modular laptops, has announced price reductions and retroactive refunds for customers due to lower procurement costs for memory modules. The company successfully secured a limited supply of Micron LPCAMM2 RAM at more favorable rates following a period of high prices and supply constraints driven by AI data center demand.

The price adjustments specifically target the Framework Laptop 13 Pro models equipped with 32GB or 64GB of LPCAMM2 RAM. Customers who have already received their devices and paid the higher price will automatically receive a refund for the difference. Additionally, all pending pre-orders up to Batch 10 will have their prices adjusted downward automatically.

Framework noted that the availability of this lower-priced memory is limited. If additional low-cost modules are procured after the initial ten batches, the company intends to extend the savings to more customers. This move is noted as unusual in the technology industry, where companies often retain unexpected savings from decreased component costs.
