Fran Maira seeks temporary suspension of travel ban to visit United States

Fran Maira, a singer and content creator, has requested the temporary suspension of her national travel ban (arraigo nacional) to travel to the United States from October 1 to October 20, 2026.

The request comes amid an ongoing investigation into a February 2026 car accident in Lo Barnechea, where Maira struck a motorcyclist, Mayerson Zapata, resulting in severe neuronal damage. Following the incident, Maira was hospitalized for acute stress and subsequently placed under precautionary measures, including the travel ban.

Maira's lawyer, Esteban Olivares, argued that the trip is necessary for family reasons and therapeutic purposes to support her mental health. A court hearing to review the precautionary measures is scheduled for September 22, followed by another hearing on September 25 to discuss a potential extension of the investigation period.
