Francavilla al Mare: Six reported for racially motivated attack

Six individuals, including five adults and one minor, have been reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Chieti and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office of L'Aquila following a racially motivated attack in Francavilla al Mare. The suspects are accused of aggravated personal injury fueled by racial hatred.

The incident occurred on the night of September 4 in Piazza Sirena. A young man from the Dominican Republic, who had just finished his work shift, was targeted by a group of youths celebrating a birthday at a local establishment. According to investigators, the group engaged in a mass assault involving punches, kicks, and the throwing of furniture, while also directing racial insults and epithets at the victim.

The victim was treated at a hospital in Chieti and received a 20-day medical prognosis. Carabinieri investigators identified the group members through surveillance footage and witness statements. The suspects, who are already known to police for previous disturbances in the area, may face additional preventive measures.
