France: 125cc motorcycle regulations and KTM 125 SMC R launch

In France, drivers holding a Category B license can operate 125cc motorcycles, scooters, or three-wheeled motor tricycles provided they meet specific legal requirements. To do so legally, the driver must have held their B license for at least two years and completed a mandatory seven-hour training course. This training includes both theoretical and practical components to prepare drivers for the specific handling characteristics of two-wheeled vehicles.

KTM has introduced the 125 SMC R to the French market, targeting both A1 license holders and B license holders looking for an alternative to standard scooters. The model is designed with supermotard ergonomics inspired by the 690 SMC R, featuring a steel trellis frame, WP Apex suspension, and a slim body designed for maneuverability in urban environments and tight corners.
