Olivier Létang wins EFC board seat, defeating Stéphane Richard

Olivier Létang, president of LOSC Lille, has been elected to the board of the European Football Clubs (EFC) following a vote in Copenhagen. Létang secured a decisive victory, receiving 27 to 32 votes, to fill the seat previously held by Pablo Longoria.

Stéphane Richard, the president of Olympique de Marseille (OM), was the primary opponent but failed to secure the position, receiving only 5 votes. The loss represents a significant blow to OM's direct influence within the European association, which is led by Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.

Reports suggest the election reflected broader political divisions within French football. Létang is viewed as being aligned with the camp of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Vincent Labrune, whereas OM is considered part of an opposition group alongside clubs like Rennes and Lens. Despite the defeat, OM officials stated it was important to participate and express the club's position.
