France 2’s thriller ‘Code Rouge’ confirmed as fictional series
The six‑episode British‑style thriller Code Rouge premiered on France 2 on 29 July 2026. Created and written by Peter A. Dowling, the series follows Dr Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage) and police officer Hana Li (Jing Lusi) aboard a night flight from London to Beijing that becomes a deadly, high‑stakes hostage scenario involving MI5 and diplomatic tensions.
Despite the realistic backdrop of extradition procedures and Sino‑British relations, the programme is entirely fictional. Both the production team and media outlets such as Ayther and Puremédias confirm that the plot, characters and events are original inventions, not based on any real‑world incident.
Code Rouge, originally titled Red Eye, was broadcast in two blocks on France 2, with the first three episodes released together. Its setting and procedural details were designed to give the series a credible feel, but the storyline remains a work of imagination.
