Switzerland leads world in average wealth per adult, US ranks second as global millionaires rise

The UBS Global Wealth Report 2026 shows Switzerland has the highest average net worth per adult at $910,382, ahead of the United States ($696,277) and Luxembourg. Around 944,000 Swiss adults—13.1% of the adult population—are millionaires, holding about 69% of the country’s private wealth. While average wealth is high, median wealth places Switzerland only eighth globally, highlighting wealth concentration.

Globally, personal wealth grew 10.8% in 2025, the strongest annual increase since 2017, creating nearly one million new millionaires—about 2,600 per day. The United States accounted for roughly half of these new millionaires. In Europe, the Middle East and Africa, total wealth rose 17.5%, but the benefits were uneven, with the richest 1.5% of adults now owning almost half of global assets. France also reported a sharp rise in the number of its millionaires.
