France adjusts 'prime d'activité' benefit amounts

The French government has adjusted the 'prime d'activité', a social benefit designed to support low-income workers. A recent decree has increased the flat-rate amount for single-person households in Mayotte to 460 euros. This adjustment represents a significant step toward social convergence, as the previous amount was considerably lower than the national standard of 638.28 euros. This new figure now covers 72% of the national amount, up from 50%.

Across France, approximately 4.63 million workers receive this benefit, typically those earning less than 2,000 euros net per month. To qualify, recipients must be at least 18 years old, reside stably in France for more than nine months of the year, and earn a net social income exceeding 1,144 euros.

The calculation for the benefit is complex, combining a base flat rate with 61% of professional income, minus other declared household resources. This mechanism is intended to encourage or maintain professional activity even at a partial level.
