France allocates €2.3 million for Emmanuel Macron post-presidency
The French government has allocated €2.3 million in a proposed budget to cover the costs associated with Emmanuel Macron’s transition following his presidency. The funds are intended to cover expenses for a new office, security, rent, and utilities for a six-year period.
Under French law, former presidents are entitled to various lifelong benefits, including a pension, a chauffeur, police escorts, and office space. They are also permitted to employ seven staff members during the first five years after leaving office, a number that decreases to three thereafter. The Élysée Palace noted that this is a standard budgetary measure based on the requirements of former heads of state.
While Macron is entitled to a presidential pension, he has publicly stated his intention to renounce it when he leaves office. His specific plans for post-presidency activities remain unconfirmed.
