France allocates €260 million to boost floating offshore wind at five ports

The French state will provide nearly €260 million in subsidies to develop floating offshore wind projects at five selected ports—Cherbourg, Brest, Nantes‑Saint‑Nazaire, Port‑la‑Nouvelle and Marseille‑Fos. The funding, part of the France 2030 investment programme, is intended to finance new quays, landfills and access routes capable of handling the massive components of floating turbines.

The money supports the creation of industrial sites that can assemble and launch floating wind farms, helping France meet its goal of 6 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040 and reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels. Port infrastructure upgrades are expected to attract manufacturers and boost the domestic supply chain for this emerging technology.
