The International Space Summit in Paris has convened approximately 2,000 representatives from 120 delegations to discuss the future of space exploration, security, and governance. French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the need for European strategic autonomy in space to reduce dependence on foreign infrastructures.

The summit has resulted in 51 announcements and agreements representing nearly 20 billion euros in total. A significant portion of this, approximately 15.7 billion euros, is linked to the IRIS² secure satellite network project. Additionally, Arianespace secured an agreement with Amazon Leo to launch six more satellites, bringing their total to 24.

Despite the momentum, the event faced notable absences. Major American companies, including SpaceX and Blue Origin, did not participate, following reports that the U.S. administration advised against attendance to avoid appearing to support specific European policy positions. Discussions also addressed the growing threat of space debris and the necessity of international regulations to manage increasing orbital traffic from private constellations.
