France and Norway face cybersecurity and surveillance concerns
Hackers have targeted the refrigeration systems of hundreds of supermarkets in France, causing the defrosting of food supplies and resulting in millions of euros worth of waste. Dominique Schelcher, executive director of Coopérative U, described the attack as “unprecedented.” The Paris Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation, with initial focus directed toward the control systems of a Danish company.
In a separate security incident in Norway, military exercises involving 5,000 soldiers from the Heimevernet revealed vulnerabilities in rented Chinese electric vehicles. The vehicles were found to have recorded video of personnel, their movements, and even security codes entered at military gates.
