France and Tunisia adopt new long-term strategic frameworks

The French government has adopted a new National Integrated Coastal Management Strategy (SNGITC) through decree, establishing a framework to manage coastal evolution through 2030. This strategy, mandated by the Climate and Resilience Law, aims to address erosion and submersion risks across 20,000 km of coastline and nearly 950 coastal municipalities. The plan incorporates the Reference Warming Trajectory for Climate Change Adaptation (TRACC), which projects a sea-level rise of nearly one meter over the next century. The strategy focuses on improving local knowledge, accelerating the adoption of local coastal evolution maps, and implementing 60 operational measures across five main axes.

In Tunisia, the General Directorate of Customs has validated its 2026–2030 strategic plan and governance charter. The roadmap aims to modernize the administration to better serve citizens and economic operators. Key objectives include strengthening maritime and land border surveillance to combat the informal economy, optimizing tax and customs collection through fraud-detection algorithms, and digitizing procedures to increase transparency and reduce clearance times. Director General Mohamed Hédi Safer emphasized that full digitalization is essential for ensuring the efficiency of cross-border transactions and attracting foreign direct investment.
