France announces 2026 summer tax refund dates and autumn payment plan
The French tax administration has released the schedule for income‑tax adjustments for 2026. Households that are due a refund will receive an automatic bank transfer on either 24 July or 31 July 2026, with any cheque sent to the home address if banking details are missing.
Taxpayers who still owe money after the spring declaration will see the balance collected in the autumn. If the amount exceeds €300, the payment is split into four equal instalments on 25 September, 26 October, 25 November and 28 December 2026. Balances of €300 or less are collected in a single autumn debit. The system operates under the source‑withholding regime, so taxpayers must keep their bank details up to date to avoid missed payments or delayed refunds.
