France police arrest 33 men in nationwide crackdown on illegal child‑porn video
A coordinated operation led by France's Office of the Minors (OFMIN) resulted in the arrest of 33 men across the country for possessing and distributing extremely violent child sexual‑abuse material. The investigation centred on a notorious video known as “Daisy's Destruction,” which depicts the rape and torture of an 18‑month‑old infant. Arrests were carried out in several departments, including Nord, Haut‑Rhin, Rhône, Ain, Charente‑Maritime, Drôme and Calvados.
The suspects, aged 37 to 79 and from diverse professional backgrounds, were found to have downloaded and shared thousands of illicit images and videos – more than 62,000 files in total. Judicial outcomes included a 37‑year‑old sentenced in Rouen to 30 months’ imprisonment with a suspended term and a mandated care order, and a 43‑year‑old sentenced in Versailles to three years’ imprisonment, two of which are suspended, also with a care obligation. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez highlighted the operation as a major success in combating online child exploitation. The video’s creator, Australian Peter Scully, is already serving a life sentence in the Philippines for related crimes.
