France awards cycling labels to 30 territories to boost tourism

The French government has announced the first 30 territories to receive the ‘Destinations France à vélo’ label. This initiative, launched by the Direction générale des Entreprises (DGE) in partnership with France Vélo and the Réseau vélo & marche, aims to promote cycling destinations across France to both national and European audiences.

Among the selected locations is the Épinal Agglomération, which was chosen to enhance its visibility as a cycling destination. The program covers various cycling activities, including mountain biking, gravel riding, and long-distance touring.

Cycling tourism has become a significant economic driver in France, generating approximately 5 billion euros in annual direct economic benefits—a 46% increase over the last decade. The sector also supports an estimated 33,800 jobs, primarily within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) such as local hotels, restaurants, and cycle rental services.
