France becomes world's top ski destination for the first time in 11 years

France has reclaimed its position as the world's leading ski destination for the first time in eleven years, according to data released by Domaines skiables de France (DSF). During the 2025-2026 season, French ski resorts recorded 56.1 million skier days, representing a 2.4% increase in attendance.

France surpassed Austria, which recorded 53.7 million skier days, and the United States, which recorded 52.6 million skier days. This performance marks the third-best season on record for French ski stations, trailing only the 2008-2009 and 2012-2013 winters.

The strong season was driven by the Alps and the Pyrenees, aided by early snowfall in late November and favorable sunny conditions that extended activity through the spring holidays.
