France cigarette prices to undergo adjustments on September 1, 2026
New cigarette retail prices will take effect in France on September 1, 2026, following an order from the Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Taxes. This fifth revision of the year features a mix of price increases, decreases, and stable pricing for major market leaders.
While many high-volume brands like Marlboro and Camel are expected to maintain current prices, specific adjustments are occurring. For example, Dunhill Blue will be set at 14 euros, and Marlboro Red and Gold will reach 13.50 euros. Some brands, such as Vogue L'Essentielle bleue, will see price reductions, dropping from 13.50 euros to 12 euros. Additionally, British American Tobacco is reducing the price of Luckies Red Longues by 0.30 euros.
These adjustments are part of a broader government strategy to combat smoking, with a long-term goal of reaching an average pack price of 13 euros by 2027. Unlike previous years, there is no uniform increase across all brands; instead, manufacturers and suppliers set prices based on fiscal parameters and homologation schedules.
