France commemorates Armistice Day with local ceremonies
Various French municipalities are organizing ceremonies to commemorate the Armistice of World War I on November 11.
In Sèvremoine, a gathering will take place in Tillières to honor those who died for France. The event will include a religious service and a commemorative ceremony attended by local officials, including the sub-prefect of Cholet and the deputy of Maine-et-Loire. This year, the ceremony features the first class of civil security cadets from Sainte-Marie College in Torfou, highlighting youth involvement in civic duty.
In La Baule-Escoublac, commemorations will include a specific tribute to seven local residents who fell at Verdun. The morning will begin with Remembrance Day at the British cemetery to honor Commonwealth soldiers buried in the area, including victims of the Lancastria shipwreck and those killed during the Saint-Nazaire raid. Following a mass at Saint-Pierre Church, an official ceremony will be held at the Escoublac war memorial, involving local youth and patriotic associations to ensure the transmission of historical memory.
