France confidence in electric car long‑distance travel climbs to 67%

A new Alphabet France survey finds that 67% of French respondents believe they can travel to their holiday destination by electric car, up from just over half in previous years. Confidence is highest among the 18‑24 age group (75%) and remains strong across other age brackets, with slightly lower but still majority support in older cohorts. Urban residents also show strong belief, especially those in cities over 100,000 inhabitants (71%).

In parallel, experts advise drivers on handling electric vehicles during summer heatwaves. Modern EV batteries feature thermal‑management systems, and climate control can be activated remotely to improve cabin comfort before driving. High temperatures may increase energy consumption by 1‑2 kW per 100 km and can slow charging rates on fast‑charging stations, so drivers are urged to plan recharges before the battery becomes too hot and avoid depleting the battery too low on long trips.
