France considers new crypto taxes and wallet disclosure rules

French deputies are set to vote on several amendments regarding cryptocurrency taxation as part of the 2027 Budget. Key measures adopted in commission include a 31.4% flat tax on conversions from cryptocurrencies to stablecoins, effective January 1, 2027. Currently, such exchanges do not trigger taxes as the tax is only applied upon conversion back to fiat currency.

Other proposed measures include the expansion of the exit tax to cover latent capital gains on crypto-assets for households leaving France, and a requirement to declare self-hosted wallets containing more than 100,000 euros. The voting session is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 13.
