France arrests four Ukrainians for highway truck robberies

French authorities have arrested four Ukrainian nationals suspected of conducting a series of high-speed highway robberies targeting freight trucks. The group, described by investigators as ‘voltigeurs’ due to their acrobatic methods, allegedly stole consumer electronics valued at over 200,000 euros.

The suspects reportedly used a highly coordinated approach: they would shadow trucks at night, approaching them from behind while traveling at approximately 90 km/h. One individual would then board the moving vehicle to access the cargo, while the stolen goods were thrown into a following car.

The arrests were made near Angers following an investigation by the Office central de lutte contre la délinquance itinérante (OCLDI) in cooperation with Ukrainian authorities. The suspects face charges including theft with aggravating circumstances, property damage, and membership in a criminal group. They could face up to seven years in prison and fines of 100,000 euros.
