France faces debate over school sexual education program
The implementation of the Evars (Education on affective, relational, and sexual life) program in French schools has faced significant challenges one year after its official rollout. While a 2001 law mandated sexual education for all students, the new national framework intended to standardize this instruction.
However, reports indicate that many educators are hesitant to implement the curriculum, fearing they are entering a contentious and “mined” territory. This has sparked a broader cultural debate regarding the neutrality of sexual education and whether such teachings infringe upon the fundamental values that parents wish to transmit to their children.
