France faces nationwide public sector and rail strikes on September 29
France is facing significant labor disruptions on September 29, as multiple unions have called for a nationwide public-sector strike. Major organizations including CGT, FO, CFDT, UNSA, FSU, Solidaires, and CFE-CGC are mobilizing workers to protest against wage freezes, the erosion of purchasing power, and proposed budget cuts in the 2027 finance bill.
In addition to the broader public-sector movement, railway workers are also set to strike. The union SUD-Rail has called for action due to failed wage negotiations, while CGT Cheminots has also signaled intent to participate. These combined actions are expected to impact various services, including transportation and general public administration, as workers demand higher salary indices and improved working conditions.
