France faces systemic crisis under President Macron

President Emmanuel Macron faces a systemic crisis in France as his decade of leadership nears its end. The nation is grappling with significant social unrest and mounting fiscal instability.

Ongoing protests, particularly by thousands of high school students, have entered their fourth week. Demonstrators are protesting overcrowded classrooms, deteriorating school infrastructure, and teacher shortages. While Macron has focused on military priorities, such as observing nuclear submarine missile tests, domestic issues regarding the economy and social welfare systems remain unresolved.

Political analysts note that despite his 2017 campaign promises of a ‘revolution’ to restart the national machinery, Macron has struggled to address the deep-seated economic and social challenges facing the country. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has been tasked with reassuring the public that the government maintains control over the spreading instability.
