France forest activities remain legal during hunting season
In France, the reopening of the forest hunting season from September to March does not prohibit outdoor activities such as running, walking, or cycling. According to legal standards and guidance from the Office National des Forêts (ONF), public paths, including marked trails and communal paths, remain accessible to the public.
While 'hunting in progress' signs are common, they do not constitute a legal prohibition for hikers or runners. However, the ONF recommends safety precautions, such as consulting hunting calendars to plan routes and choosing appropriate times to avoid active hunting zones. While wearing high-visibility clothing is advised for safety, it is not a legal requirement for runners.
