Toulon launches postcard campaign to combat summer isolation

The Centre communal d’action sociale (CCAS) of Toulon has started an "Opération Carte Postale" to help elderly and disabled residents who experience loneliness during the summer months. The drive, which runs until 15 August 2026, invites anyone in Toulon, the Var department or elsewhere to write a short, positive message on a postcard and send it to the CCAS address. Submitted cards are collected, anonymised and distributed to isolated individuals throughout the season. The programme aims to provide a simple, personal connection without requiring the sender to know the recipient. Cards containing political, commercial or religious content are excluded.

Participation is free: volunteers can use a supplied postcard or create their own, write a brief encouraging note, place it in an envelope and drop it off or mail it to the CCAS at 100 rue des Remparts, 83000 Toulon. The initiative seeks to bring warmth and attention to those spending the summer alone.
