Bouygues unveils 5G‑Wi‑Fi 7 box as French homes struggle with slow Wi‑Fi

Many French households experience sluggish Wi‑Fi despite having high‑speed fibre connections. Common causes include poor router placement, interference from other wireless devices, outdated equipment and the sheer number of connected gadgets, which can all degrade signal strength and speed.

Bouygues Telecom has introduced a new Bbox 5G Wi‑Fi 7, a wireless alternative that relies on the mobile 5G network instead of fibre. The box is certified for Wi‑Fi 7, offers theoretical download speeds of up to 1.1 Gbps, supports more than 200 simultaneous devices, and includes a Google TV‑compatible TV module with over 180 channels. It is priced at €44.99 per month (or €34.99 without TV) and can be installed without any wiring or additional decoder, positioning it as a convenient solution for homes where fibre is unavailable or impractical.
