France implements electronic voting for 2026 elections

France is implementing electronic voting systems for upcoming electoral processes. For the professional elections within the public service, scheduled between December 3 and December 10, 2026, voting will be conducted exclusively online.

To participate, public service agents must retrieve a personal voting code via their ENSAP space, create an elector password following an invitation email, and then cast their vote on the official government website.

Additionally, a large-scale test of an internet voting platform is scheduled for November 20, and 27, 2026. This test is aimed at French citizens living abroad who are registered on consular electoral lists. While the test is not an official election, it serves to evaluate the platform's reliability, connection stability, and authentication processes in real-world conditions. This testing is intended to improve online voting solutions for potential future legislative elections in 2027, though electronic voting will not be available for the presidential election.
