France: Individuals sell homes to adopt nomadic motorhome lifestyles
Individuals in France are increasingly opting to sell their traditional homes to adopt a nomadic lifestyle in motorhomes.
One individual, Ronan, sold his renovated house in Brittany for 112,000 euros to fund a life on the road. Since 2022, he has used his vehicle as both a home and an office, reporting monthly savings of between 300 and 400 euros. He noted that the desire for constant movement and new horizons drove his decision to leave a sedentary life.
In Moréac, Morbihan, other enthusiasts like Serge and Anne have made similar transitions. The couple sold their home in Quimper to purchase a large American-style motorhome for 150,000 euros. Their vehicle utilizes lateral extensions to maximize living space, which they describe as a ‘small house on wheels.’ They travel through destinations such as Spain and southern France, emphasizing that such a lifestyle requires total agreement between partners to be successful.
