France initiates dissolution procedure against Alain Soral's association
The French Ministry of the Interior has initiated a procedure to dissolve the association Égalité & Réconciliation, led by far-right figure Alain Soral. The move follows years of alleged antisemitic propaganda and multiple judicial convictions involving the organization's founder.
In a letter dated October 9, the Ministry stated that while the group claims to combat racism, it actually promotes national-socialist thought and Nazi references. The Ministry further alleged that the association propagates discriminatory and hateful ideas that incite violence against Jewish people, immigrants, women, and the LGBT community.
The association is currently in a 10-day contradictory phase, allowing it to present its arguments to the Ministry. Following this period, the government will decide whether to submit a dissolution decree to the Council of Ministers. Alain Soral has characterized the procedure as political persecution and a move to silence a dissident voice.
