France insurance mediation referrals rise 28% in 2025

In France, the Insurance Mediator (LMA) reported a 28% increase in referrals for 2025, totaling 46,830 cases. This surge reflects growing tensions between insurers and policyholders, driven largely by declining purchasing power and the increased use of artificial intelligence by claimants to draft legal requests.

Complementary health insurance has seen a particularly sharp rise, with referrals increasing by 97% in one year. Since 2020, the number of cases has tripled from 15,000 to over 46,000. Additionally, the admissibility rate of these files has risen from 33% to 47%, suggesting that claimants are increasingly presenting more legally sound arguments.
