France investigates fatal shooting of man in commercial van

Authorities in Troyes, France, have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a 47-year-old man dead in a British commercial van. The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

At the time of the incident, approximately ten undocumented foreign nationals were also inside the van. The shooting occurred around 5:00 AM on Friday at a rest area on the A26 motorway, known as the ‘Autoroute des Anglais’, between Troyes and Reims.

Prosecutor Isabelle Verissimo stated that a suspect believed to be present during the shooting was arrested at the scene. Police are searching for other individuals who reportedly fled the area immediately after the gunfire. The investigation is exploring potential links to organized crime groups involved in human trafficking and illegal migration.
