France issues food recalls for coffee and infant milk
Multiple food recalls have been issued in France involving coffee and infant milk due to safety and quality concerns.
Several batches of decaffeinated coffee, including brands distributed via Monoprix Gourmet, Ponera, and Maxicoffee, have been withdrawn from the market. The recall follows the detection of high levels of ochratoxin A, a mycotoxin produced by certain molds during storage or transport. Health authorities warn that ochratoxin A is potentially carcinogenic and can cause damage to cellular DNA and kidneys through prolonged exposure.
Additionally, several brands of organic infant milk intended for children aged 10 months to three years have been recalled. Products sold at Carrefour, Monoprix, Auchan, Leclerc, and Magasins U were found to have unusual organoleptic characteristics, specifically a bad odor and taste resembling fish. Consumers are advised to check barcodes and lot numbers for the affected 'Croissance nature Biologique' products.
