Bruno Foucher faces disciplinary action in Central African Republic
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a disciplinary procedure against Bruno Foucher, the French ambassador to the Central African Republic. The action follows an administrative investigation conducted in Bangui in 2026.
According to reports from Le Canard enchaîné, Foucher allegedly hosted approximately 30 young women, aged between 20 and 30, at his private residence between January 2024 and March 2026. The frequency of these visits, estimated at roughly 15 per month, prompted security services to flag a potential security breach. Reports also suggest the ambassador instructed staff to allow one of the women to stay at the residence during his absence.
During interrogations, Foucher reportedly admitted to having sexual relations with two of the women. The disciplinary process could result in various sanctions, ranging from a formal reprimand to dismissal from the civil service or forced retirement. This scandal occurs amid a sensitive diplomatic period as France attempts to maintain influence in the region amidst growing Russian presence.
