France Leads Global IPv6 Adoption with 74.7% Rate by End‑2025

A July 2026 Arcep barometer shows that by the end of 2025 France reached a 74.7 % adoption rate for IPv6 among residential users, the highest share worldwide and ahead of India and Germany. The transition was driven largely by automatic activation in customer premises equipment, requiring no action from subscribers.

Four major operators have almost completed the rollout: Free (99 % of fixed lines), Orange (97 %), Bouygues Telecom (96 %) and SFR (80 %). Overall, 94 % of fixed‑line customers and 83 % of mobile customers had IPv6 enabled at year‑end, reflecting a significant shift from the limited IPv4 address pool to the virtually unlimited IPv6 space.
