France: Man kills two children and mother-in-law before suicide

A 42-year-old man killed his two sons, aged 6 and 10, and his 74-year-old mother-in-law before committing suicide in the village of Gy, Haute-Saône, on Wednesday night. The victims were reportedly shot with a hunting rifle.

According to Vesoul prosecutor Arnaud Grécourt, the bodies of the adults were found in a bungalow on the family property, while the children were discovered in a utility vehicle parked outside. The perpetrator reportedly filmed the crime and sent the footage to his wife, with whom he was in the process of separating, accompanied by the message: ‘This is what you deserve’.

The incident occurred on a plot of land located between vineyards and woods, approximately 30 km north of Besançon. Local authorities have opened an investigation into voluntary homicide.
