France: Movement calls for blocking far-right figures on social media
A digital movement is gaining momentum in France, calling for the systematic blocking of far-right accounts on social media platforms to reduce their visibility ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The initiative encourages users to stop interacting with, sharing, or commenting on content from far-right figures, even for the purpose of confrontation, to limit their ability to reach new audiences.
On Instagram, the hashtag #onbloquelextrêmedroite has seen significant traction, while the same topic trended on X. A dedicated website, onbloquelextremedroite.fr, has been launched by a militant media account to track these efforts, reporting over two million declared blocks. The movement has published lists of specific personalities to target, including Marine Le Pen, Jordan Bardella, Marion Maréchal, and Sarah Knafo, as well as media outlets like CNews and certain social media influencers.
