A funeral parlor is managed by funeral service companies and offers a more personalized environment for visits and tributes.

On the legal side, the rights of a surviving spouse depend heavily on family composition and matrimonial regimes. If the deceased leaves only children from the current union, the spouse may choose between usufruct of all estate assets or one-quarter of the estate in full ownership. However, if there are children from a previous union, the spouse generally receives one-quarter of the estate in full ownership. In cases where there are no children, rights are determined by whether the deceased's parents are still living.
