France pension reform changes effective September 2026
Starting September 1, 2026, changes to the partial suspension of the 2023 pension reform in France will impact several demographics. The adjustments primarily affect individuals born between 1964 and 1968, as well as those with long careers starting up to 1970, and certain parents.
Key changes include a reduction in the legal retirement age for specific cohorts. For example, individuals born in 1964 may see the legal age move to 62 years and 9 months instead of 63. Additionally, the requirement for a 64-year-old retirement age will be delayed for those born in 1968, only applying to those born in 1969 or later. To benefit from these revised rules, pensions must take effect on or after the September 1, 2026, date.
