France police warn of rise in violent jewelry thefts

Police advise that if an assault occurs, individuals should prioritize physical safety over material goods and avoid confronting attackers, especially in groups. They recommend observing physical descriptions and escape routes to assist law enforcement in subsequent investigations.

In a recent incident in Lyon, a 16-year-old boy was assaulted on a T1 tramway. The victim was punched and sprayed with tear gas before his gold chain was snatched. While police intercepted two 28-year-old suspects on the tram, the stolen jewelry was not recovered, and the individuals were released with house arrest orders.
