France prepares for 2027 presidential election amid policy and demographic shifts
As the 2027 French presidential election approaches, various institutional and demographic factors are coming to the forefront of political discourse.
The Fédération Française des Geiq (FFGeiq), representing approximately 9,000 companies, has released a manifesto containing 40 proposals aimed at improving employment, training, and professional integration. Key recommendations include better support for companies engaged in training workers far from employment, strengthening professionalization contracts, and facilitating the recognition of skills acquired through work experience (VAE).
Simultaneously, the influence of French citizens living abroad is being highlighted as a significant electoral factor. With over 1.6 million citizens registered on consular electoral lists, this demographic represents an electorate comparable in size to a large French department. Historical data from the 2022 election shows that voting patterns among expatriates can differ significantly from national averages, making their engagement a critical component of the upcoming presidential campaign.
