France property tax notices for 2026 to be released starting August 27

Property tax notices (taxe foncière) for 2026 in France are scheduled to be released between late August and early October. For taxpayers not on a monthly payment plan, notices will be available online via the official impots.gouv.fr portal starting August 27. Paper notices for these individuals will be mailed between August 24 and September 21.

Owners on monthly payment plans will receive their notices online starting September 19, with paper copies arriving between September 21 and October 9. To avoid a 10% penalty, payments must be completed by the October 15, 2026, deadline. For amounts under 300 euros, certain proximity payment options are available; amounts exceeding this threshold require digital payment.

The 2026 tax is based on cadastral rental values, which have seen a revaluation of 0.8%. Local authorities may continue to utilize property tax increases to offset the loss of revenue following the 2023 abolition of the housing tax (taxe d'habitation).
