France proposes new housing law to combat construction crisis

French Minister for Cities and Housing, Vincent Jeanbrun, has detailed a new legislative project titled ‘Relance et décentralisation du logement’ (Housing Recovery and Decentralization) to combat a major housing crisis. The plan aims to meet the government's goal of 2 million new or rehabilitated homes by 2030.

Jeanbrun’s strategy focuses on four primary pillars: decentralization, renovation, simplification, and investment. The initiative seeks to stimulate construction, revitalize the rental market, and grant more power to local elected officials to address the collapse of new construction and the strain on existing rental stock.
