France proposes two robotaxi projects for European ADACities program
France has unveiled two major robotaxi testing projects in the Île-de-France region as candidates for the European Commission’s ADACities program. The initiative aims to transition autonomous vehicle technology from isolated tests to operational deployments across member states.
The first proposal is a partnership between the city of Clichy, the taxi company G7, and the French startup Milla. The second project involves the Grand Paris Metropolis, the mobility platform Bolt, and the automaker Stellantis. If approved, the Stellantis-led project is slated to begin in 2028 across five municipalities in northwestern Grand Paris.
Potential testing zones include the corridor spanning La Défense, Nanterre, Rueil, and Malmaison, or the axis between Saint-Denis and Villepinte leading to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport. While the French government seeks to close the gap with the United States and China, where robotaxis are already widely deployed, these projects currently remain subject to final evaluation by Brussels.
