France provides emergency financial aid for domestic violence victims

In France, victims of domestic violence can access emergency financial aid to facilitate a quick departure from their homes and cover immediate expenses. This universal emergency aid, established by the law of February 28, 2023, became accessible on December 1, 2023.

The assistance is available to any victim who can provide proof of violence, regardless of their financial resources or whether they have children. To qualify, individuals must have filed a complaint, obtained a protection order, or made a report to the public prosecutor. Applicants must also reside stably and regularly in France.

Requests can be submitted to the CAF or MSA online, in person, or by mail. Required documentation includes a protection order, a formal complaint, or a report to the prosecutor. Once a complete file is received, funds are disbursed in a single payment within three to five working days. The amount varies based on resources and the number of dependent children under 21, with a minimum payment of 258.61 euros.
