France raises Livret A rate to 1.7% starting 1 August 2026

The French Ministry of the Economy and Finance announced that the interest rate on the Livret A savings account will increase from 1.5% to 1.7% on 1 August 2026, following the recommendation of the Banque de France governor. The rate on the Livret d’Épargne Populaire (LEP) will remain unchanged at 2.5%, and the Livret de Développement Durable et Solidaire (LDDS) will match the Livret A rate at 1.7%. The rates are set using a regulatory formula based on Euro inter‑bank rates and recent inflation data. The adjustment reverses earlier cuts applied in early 2025 and early 2026 and aims to support savers after a period of declining returns.
