France Recalls Maître Coq Chicken Sausages and U Salad Over Salmonella

The French food‑safety authority issued two emergency recalls after salmonella was detected in specific food batches.

A precise lot of Maître Coq chicken merguez (GTIN 3230890013294, lot 26126, expiry 21 May 2026) sold between 9 May and 15 May 2026 in Intermarché, E. Leclerc and U stores across France is being withdrawn. Consumers are advised to stop eating the product, discard it or return it for a voucher, and to contact the consumer service at 02 51 44 23 53 for compensation.

Separately, a 200 g bag of ‘mâche’ salad sold in U supermarkets from 2 June to 8 June 2026 (GTIN 3256220125437, lot 01U2236, expiry 12 June 2026) in several regions—including Brittany, Centre‑Val‑de‑Loire, Hauts‑de‑France, Île‑de‑France, Pays‑de‑la‑Loire and La Réunion—has been recalled. Shoppers should not consume the salad, return it to a store by 23 June 2026, or destroy it, and can call 09 69 36 69 36 for assistance.

Both recalls warn that salmonella infection can cause diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, fever and headache within 6‑72 hours, with higher risk for children, pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals.
